Webinar: Freshwater Science: Finding Veterinary Pharmaceuticals in Lake Erie Tributaries

All dates for this event occur in the past.

Join the Ohio Sea Grant for their freshwater science research webinar on pharmaceuticals in Lake Erie tributaries.

About 1.2 million kilograms of antibiotics are produced for U.S. agriculture each year, and up to 90% of those antibiotics can be excreted by livestock un-metabolized. When these pharmaceuticals enter our waterways, they can lead to human health risks and environmental damage.

Dr. Laura Johnson from Heidelberg University will discuss her research that examines whether antibiotic concentrations in water samples from Lake Erie can be linked to nutrient runoff from livestock and whether antibiotic data can be used to explain variations in nutrient loading.

The webinar is free, but registration is required to receive login information.
