Toledo Water Treatment Upgrades

Posted:

The Ohio EPA’s Water Supply Revolving Loan Account is financing upgrades to the water treatment plant at Collins Park on the East Side, through an interest-free loan, which should save the City $2 million. The upgrades will improve treatment of harmful algal blooms, a growing problem in Lake Erie.

A second, $1.4 million, loan will evaluate long-term HAB treatment alternatives; form an independent panel to examine Toldeo's water treatment needs; and convert a conventional fuilter to a new granulated activated carbon filter.

Toledo is planning to one day implement an ozone treatment process to the plant.
